The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) headed by senior Congress leader KC Venugopal is likely to summon Sebi chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch during a performance review of regulatory bodies, sources told India Today. The development comes at a time when the Congress has accused the Sebi chairperson of "holding an office of profit at ICICI" - a charge firmly denied by the bank.
The performance review of "regulatory bodies established by Act of Parliament", including the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has been added as a suo motu subject for review.
